I might be ambitious later on to make my own pizza dough but for now I’m using whole wheat bread. Prepared first by frying with butter and then adding the tomato sauce and mozzarella. To complete this dish, I baked it in the oven for a few minutes to help the cheese melt and make the curst crunchy. It was like having a filled bruschetta, another household favorite.
What’s in it:
- Whole wheat bread
- Tomato sauce
- Mozzarella di Buffala
- Dried herbs
Watch out for the amount of butter you use at the beginning because you will be adding sauce later on. It could turn out soggy and collapse. The thickness of your toast is also a good way to tell how much sauce you can use.
I only had to make two per person and it turned out great and completely satisfying the craving for savory goodness. You’re free to use any topping you like as long as you know at which point to add them onto your pizza. You wouldn’t want to burn them or eat them uncooked. Don’t let your efforts be wasted but instead enjoy your masterpiece.
