Yes, it’s that time of the year wherein I have a need to let go of what I don’t have a use for anymore or that aren’t good anymore. I don’t really have a lot of make up, they just tend to accumulate even when I don’t use them anymore but I still know which are the good ones. Thank goodness for my make up bags, saving me from disastrous breakouts.
The best way I thought of when I started organizing my makeup when I started having more to store is how I organize my desk. I ask myself “What items/supplies will I be using more often?”, “What should be easy to reach?”, and “What else would be left that needs to be stored?” Here are my top 4 beauty assistants.
1. Makeup Drawer
I use it to store the makeup I don’t use everyday or they depend on the season on event for me to use them. I switch foundations seasonally since I obviously get darker in the summer and then I have a lighter skin tone the rest of the year from being indoors more often. I don’t always use blushes, lipsticks, glosses, eyeshadows, or eyeliners with shimmer unless I’m going to an event or something so they’re also stored in the drawer.
2. Makeup Bag
Yes I have two of them. They make it easy to grab what I use daily and if ever I’m rushing, I can easily take my grey makeup bag to finish the rest of my routine wherever it is I need to be. The most important part of my routine is to moisturize, which means as long as I’ve completed that step the rest can follow. The red bag contains my serum, BB cream, foundation, eye primer, pore minimizer, and lip balm. Anything that’s for moisturizing like my hand cream also goes into the red bag. The grey makeup bag holds the rest of my regular makeup like eyeliner, blush, bronzing powder, face powder, mascara, lipstick, and lip gloss.
3. Brush holder
This is very handy because I can easily grab the brush I need for every step when I am applying eye makeup, face powder, blush and when I need to curl my lashes. As you can see, I also use it to hold the rest of my eyeliners that are more colorful which is great because even if it isn’t a special day and I feel like I want to use the red, blue or even gold eyeliner then I can quickly grab it upon seeing it and actually remember that I have them.
4. Storage Box
For the eye shadow palettes and makeup sets that don’t fit in the drawer, I keep in these Kassett storage boxes from Ikea. Not all palettes come in the same shapes or sizes and especially not the seasonal or special edition sets which makes the box practical and useful.
Just like my night time routine, I also have a morning/day routine for makeup. It is just as important to start my day with healthy skin that I can work with. Skincare is of utmost importance since it’s at the forefront when I go out. Below is a photo of what both makeup bags contain as part of my daily routine, excluding my mask, toner, and cleanser.
It may look like there’s so much stuff and things to do when you’re a girl at a certain age that has certain needs but it pays off when you get older and even more if you started wearing makeup at a younger age despite not needing it. Proper skin care goes a long way.
