Halloweenie

I hope your Halloween went great. I’ve recently organized two halloween parties. If there’s anything I know about hosting parties, it’s that you need to think of who your guests are and what they want to see. But there is a basic structure for celebrating such an occassion.

· Music
· Food
· Movies

Now that we have the basics, let’s talk about your guestlist. Who is coming? There is a huge difference when inviting people of different genders and age group. Your program should suit the people you invited because the party is for them and in order for you to become a good host/hostess, it’s your job to satisfy their needs.

Before you begin the program and everyone is just starting to arrive, you wouldn’t want to have an awkward silence. This means that you would need background music to break the ice and have people start mingling.

  • Michael Jackson – Thriller
  • Zombie – The Cranberries
  • Ray Parker Jr. – Ghostbusters
  • MCR – Black Parade
  • Warren Zevon – Werewolves of London
  • Citizens of Halloween – This is Halloween
  • Ross Bagdasarian Sr. – Witch Doctor
  • Vic Mizzy – Addams Family Theme

The first party was for my group of friends the age group being 18 to 20. The second was for my sister’s which mean’t that I had to organise a program for 15-17 year olds. It’s not that big of a jump but because her group had more girls around mean’t that I couldn’t just show them hardcore halloween movies that my group would watch. Here’s the film lineup for the two groups.

18-19:

  • Nightmare on Elm Street
  • Unborn
  • The Omen
  • One Missed Call
  • Van Helsing
  • Freddy vs. Jason
  • The Grudge
  • The Ring
  • Shutter

15-17:

  • Halloweentown
  • Goonies
  • Corpse Bride
  • Nightmare Before Christmas
  • Casper
  • Haunted Mansion
  • Addams Family Reunion

If there’s one thing I know best, it’s food. You can never go wrong with food. I find it typical that when you have friends come over you order pizza and what not because they want to munch while watching. Here’s the gist of what I served:

  • Cookies
  • Biscuits
  • Pizza
  • Crisps
  • Cake
  • Chocolate
  • Crackers
  • Homemade dish

It is entirely up to you what you want to serve, how you want to serve it, and when but it does help to keep in mind what the theme is. I didn’t bake anymore due to lack of time for preparation but if I did then I would have made cupcakes and decorated it with ghosts, skulls, witches, etc…

I hope you guys had a great halloween. Belated Happy Halloween!
